It is now Thursday morning. We are making good progress, 6kts in SW winds about 20kts. We are trying to squeeze out every knot we can. The forecasts all say we are going to run out of wind by tomorrow. There is not a lot we can do about that. We do not have enough fuel to motor from there.
Do you remember that I told you we were flying the spinnaker on Tuesday? Well we made the mistake of slipping below for a quick dinner. While we were eating the boat became much quieter. The spinnaker had done what Alan called a quadruple wrap around the furled genoa. It took us both a good half hour to get everything untangled and packed away. No people or spinnakers damaged.
We have decided to head for Falmouth. Not only will supplies be easier, 4 boats with friends on board are also headed that way.
Like most boats these days, we have a chartplotter which will give us more information than we can ever use. It is mesmerizing to watch the trip miles add up, the miles to destination count down, and even the actual time of arrival change with every change in speed.
