Will we ever be ready? We spent yesterday chasing some of the last minute details. We are having our batteries tested but will probably have to buy a new set of 4 AGM batteries to replace both the starting battery and our 3 house batteries. At least one of them was hot and bulging.
We have ordered a line cutter which fits on the prop to make sure that our shaft and prop are not damaged when we accidently wrap them around a fishing net or crab pot – and we are going to the Chesapeake. Unfortunately, when we went to pick it up, it still needed some refinements. This needs to be attached to the propeller shaft before we go in the water.
We are not too happy with the service from the Selden representatives in North America. We are still trying to have parts for our spinnaker pole and a gooseneck delivered. The pole parts were ordered 6 months ago.
Our new lifelines have been delivered. I am going through the container checking for projects and parts left to install. Some of them will just be put on the boat and done when time allows.
Now that we have a survey for the boat we are lining up insurance. We have not finalized this but we at least need liability to enter most marinas these days.
Yesterday afternoon, we readied the mast to be put up first thing Thursday morning. Alan will be away today and tomorrow. He has been volunteered to help measure sails for the Canada Games held in Sherbrooke QC. Great location on a lake so I hope he finds time for a swim.
I will be organizing computers, books, bank accounts, dry cleaning, painting, laundry, inventory etc etc for the next couple of days
