Peterhead

 Another rollicking sail brought us to Peterhead. It is a huge harbour but attention needs to be paid at the entrance. There are islands to go around. Pleasure boats need to contact the harbour master for permission to enter as there is a lot of commercial traffic in and out and they have right of way. We actually had to wait about 30 minutes to allow some large freighters to enter. Once in there is a huge harbour with the marina in the south east corner. The actual entrance to the marina is a little tricky after dark . It is well protected from almost anything. Lots of exercise as we walked into town.

Unfortunately, being  Sunday much of the town was closed up tight. The grey architecture is uninspiring. A stop at Lidl would prepare us for the next few days. It was fun to watch the sailing lessons in the protected harbour. There is also a rescue base/ school trying out equipment. Peterhead is one of the closest ports to the North Sea oil rigs. It is nice to know there are rescue teams close by.
