Work to do on Voila

 It has been two years since we have seen our Voila. Well, we can see her on Google Maps. Here are the projects that I will have done before we return. The UK Covid 19 code is now Green for Canada. 

Stevie is keeping an eye on her. He will polish and wax the topsides and check out the brightwork. The teak deck may have to be scrubbed so that it is safe to walk on. 

 

1.       Charge and check the batteries. The instructions are listed below. No harm done if done out of order. 

• ·       There are two battery banks, the house batteries are under the port aft cabin bunk, the starting battery under the starboard aft cabin bunk.
• ·       Last time checked in the spring they were 12.5V
• ·       The fuses are pulled in both banks.
• ·       Check that the inverter supply switch is off, not serious but they will be a spark as the inverter builds up. It is near the fuse for the house bank.
• ·       Replace the fuses
• ·       Set the master switch to ON, It is under the companionway ladder
• ·       There is an 240 AC switch panel in the cockpit locker. Check that the hot water tank is off. Pretty sure that I left the battery charger on.
• ·       The dock electric cables are in the cockpit locker.
• ·       Plug them in
• ·       Confirm the batteries are charging . The charger is in the engine room.
• ·       There is also a battery monitor above the main 12V switch panel.
• ·       Check the batteries’ temperature after a couple of hours.
• ·       After charging for a day or so. Pull the fuses as before.

• The batteries are AGM. New in 2019. All these instructions are fairly evident to an experienced engineer. I want to make sure that the batteries alright. And to give them a good charge. 
• The house batteries will charge first then the engine battery after the voltage passes a threshold. 

The fuel tanks will have to be checked. It has been two years. 

•       The fuel may have to be polished. There are two tanks. One that can accessed through the tool drawer locker. The tool drawers will have to be removed. This tank is in the bilge under the engine. There is a sample pump plumbed to the bottom of this tank in the engine room. The other tank is a drop tank under the port salon berth. It may be empty.
