Nothing like crossing an ocean on a 787. Lots of waiting. We arrived at the airport in Montreal at 1730 for a 2055 flight. We were being extra cautious with winter rush hour traffic. Due to an hour delay and some de-icing, we didn’t actually take off until 2230. There must have been a heck of a tailwind to accomplish a 5.5hr flight. We arrived almost on time. I dozed for much of the flight. That should have been my first clue as I never sleep on airplanes. Alan apparently wiggled and squirmed to get comfortable with sore joints. The plane was only about 2/3 full so most sets of 3 seats had an empty one in the middle, including ours. London was cool and wet but the tube ride back to St. Katharine’s Dock was uneventful. We have to change trains once but in the right station that only involves walking across the platform. After arriving about noon UK time we climbed aboard. As we turned things on we discovered that the batteries were really dead. We must have accidently knocked a switch as we were leaving. Fixing the issue, we climbed under the blankets and napped while the batteries charged. By supper time we have heat and power.
