We have spent an uneventful couple of days here waiting out some blustery weather. Lots of walks along the waterfront to watch the North Sea. The past week was mid-term break for school kids so there was a carnival set up along the promenade.
Unfortunately it was really cool and often wet so there didn’t seem to be much going on. It was funny to watch kids take off their jackets and roll up their pants to play in the sprinkler park…
… and to play on the beach. That water is COLD
Throughout the week there were a bunch of young people taking sailing lessons, in full wetsuits. They were having a ball

These row houses look out over the beach. Most are divided into flats and several look like they have seen better days… like much of Lowestoft. One brand new building is the ASDA about 1/2 km from the marina. It is a Walmart Superstore type place. We did quite a bit of provisioning here. Groceries are less expensive here than in London. It is funny what is not available though, like applesauce.
Now that the force 10 winds are subsiding, we will be headed north tomorrow. Destination, probably Peterhead, but stay tuned for the next blog.
